#FRIDAY'S SPIRITUAL NUGGETS PERIMETRY: WHEN GOD SHIFTS OUR FOCUS

Isa 31:1 Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, who rely on horses and trust in chariots because they are many and in horsemen because they are very strong, but they look not to the Holy One of Israel, nor seek and consult the Lord! When God wants to show us that he has much more to offer us than what we can currently visualize, he does what-to us- is considered unimaginable, unthinkable even. And most times without the ‘decency’ of a prior notice! Afterall, he is sending us out of a place we previously considered home, thus, we should be properly notified, right? Most of us would usually grumble, cry or whine (in different combinations), and oft, we forget that God has our back. Because it is so easy to forget that he has our best in mind. And yet, he’s only trying to shift our focus off men/ourselves and towards him. Or to make us stronger and more solid. So, when he shifts our focus, or adjusts our optical lenses, let us try, instead (or even admist the) wh...

DOKITA

EPISODE 4 As he tossed and turned that night, unable to get a wink of sleep; Fola asked himself tons of questions. Like how he had gotten himself into all of this. And what exactly, the essence of love as he knew it was. He had really thought Bunmi was ‘THE ONE’. She had basically appealed to him on so many fronts. And there was something else, wasn’t there? The rarity of their almost seamless connection. How they had always known what the other was thinking before anyone phonated. Everyone had seen them as the perfect ‘power’ couple in school. He rolled over again, the creaking noises the bed made almost in tune with his protesting heart. He replayed in his mind once again, her last words from less than 6 hours ago. ‘Fola’ she had said, while looking everywhere but into his eyes ‘I wish…I wish we didn’t have to end this way. I even tried stalling it several times while we were still together, but eventually, I just had to let go.’ She sighed. ‘God kno...

ELEGANCE

So i wrote a poem on elegance. Well... In the hope of attaining a certain degree of elegance: ELEGANCE She had on her personality, a fragrance of beauty An aura of perfection, Little wonder the men couldn’t be staved off her Her elegant strut made it easier, You see, she was both a princess and a warrior Her eyes were sword-like, Speaking volumes of wonder,  Just like that of the Monalisa In no time she would pass across messages of grief, joy and peace An enigma to behold; She carried the wave of spotlessness, flowing like a stream And all seamlessly weaved into one beautiful thread of seeming normalcy Blindingly radiant, speculatively beautiful Her force of elegance was undeniable And that alone, made her beyond eligible Trust that you enjoyed reading this piece. Comments? Would love to hear them Tell a friend to tell a friend to read this piece. Thanks. See you next Monday!

LETTER TO AN OUTCAST

Dear Outcast,                       You say you have been forgotten. That just as in Isaiah 56:3, God has made you a second class citizen and you don’t really belong. You believe you are damaged goods. You didn’t have to feed your imagination substantially to have this belief system deeply ingrained into you. You only had to look all around you, to discern the voices echoing your incapabilities in the background and see the faces mirroring your deepest fears. Well, you aren’t damaged. You’re renewed. Can’t you see? You aren’t useless, you’ve been remade into something priceless! God says he’d confer on you a permanent honor. I’m not saying this to make you feel better; no. He said so with his own mouth in Isaiah 56:5. He said you’d bear more fruit, have more children, more results, deeper insight and revelations, eye-widening breakthroughs than anyone who’s gone ah...

DOKITA

EPISODE 3 ‘Oya sorry now, we’re almost there.’ Felix kept saying as he partially carried his dear friend.  She wouldn’t hear the last of this episode once it was over, that much he knew! ‘Awww…you don’t know how painful awww… this is’ ‘Sorry, sorry’ ; he kept saying So they eventually got to the ER and after pulling out her card, used ‘medical student connection’ to see the resident that was on call in Internal Medicine unit. ‘Hello dear’ , Dr. Brown said, looking keenly at the girl that was almost doubled over in pain ‘I think you should lie down on that couch’ ‘What exactly is the problem?’ ‘She just started complaining about her abdomen about half an hour ago’ ‘Oh’. ‘Can you point to where exactly the pain started?’ he asked ‘Here’ . Linda pointed to the area around her umbilicus. ‘Have you had any episode of vomiting?’ ‘No sir’ Felix answered spontaneously. ‘You must be her boyfriend, right?’ Dr.Brown asked, with a mischievious grin ...

#POETRY# MOMENTS

So, it’s another Monday. Today’s poem is on moments, appreciating them and taking second looks at the seemingly mundane. Enjoy! MOMENTS You never know, you just never know There he was last night, holding your hands, Looking into your eyes with passion beyond expression, And then; here he was this morning, telling a sad tale of never! Who knew love could become so tasteless overnight? It had seemed over in less than a flash; So much for the deep love you shared. Where it all ends, you just never know! Memories of baby’s not so far away childhood, Flickered before her eyes like a dimly lit flame Was it not just last summer she had started crawling? And in what appeared to be less than 24hours, She had walked, jumped and taken sandwiches to school And now, she fit smugly into a graduation gown, cape and all, Her baby was now a grown woman And those memories were all she had left! He stroked her tapered fingers lovingly as he wept by her beds...
