MEDICAL POETRY: CERVICALLY

CERVICALLY Hi guys! As some of us know, January is cervical cancer awareness month. Women, all over the world, are encouraged to get their pap smears done, if they are over 18years of age and sexually active. This, is very important, as progression of the disease can be halted by early detection of the neoplastic process. So, I got a doctor-writer friend to write a beautiful poem on cervical cancer. Trust me, you’d enjoy it! CERVICALLY- by OLADIPO ABIMBOLA The sins of CIN Spineless technology is rendered clueless, Invasive, Pervasive, Elusive The worst nightmare of the devil, Lucifer’s mother With costly despair and women, murdered Magnifies until she putrefies, Aceto-acetic assertive, Lugol iodine’s fugitive, Noble women have bled to death, Evil mistresses have been consumed by earth Oh the wonder of that sinister cervix You are such a gradually progressive devil Eating up  birth canals at varying levels Biting up health and

An unfortunate day to get lucky...FEMI OLADELE

LATERAL THINKING Hi hi! This would be the first of a series of featured articles, written by Femi Oladele. I hope you enjoy it;  and be sure to stop by next Thursday, to continue from where this stops. Gracias! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- When warned, heed the call; there is what is called "hmmmm". It does not carry a human face nor will it stare you in the face; You need more than mere communication to discern it. It is beyond resolutions (strong resolves);  It transcends human ability; it is TRUE Yet may be unbearable albeit the intending has little of a choice or none at all; At least that is how it seems. It is the valley of intention, capacity and use. Once it goes over the first two boundaries, it is gone. One can only pray, hope, trust and believe. All is not lost anyway; there is a way out.

LOVE NOTES- Victoria Soyobi

Love is life. Life, they say, is not fair. Is love fair? Let’s work it out together You love someone so much that your day is incomplete without him You think about him every second of every day You want to pick the phone and call him almost every hour When you speak with him, your day is just splendid and everyone around can see When you get to spend time together, Your whole world is made just perfect He is the first that comes to mind When there is any news, good or bad! Everyone around, friends and foes alike, Know his status in your life That’s because you wouldn’t stop talking about him Directly, or indirectly You dress gorgeously, carry yourself with charisma With the hope that you may come across him by ‘chance’ You would do anything to be with him But guess what! He likes it when you call, but would barely think about calling you He likes it when he sees you, but he wouldn’t make effort to He probably says hi only if you say hello

That’s all.’ 10.                    ‘My horizon on humanity is enlarged by reading the writers of poems, seeing a painting, listening to some music, some opera, which h
