Typing, typing, typing.

When it comes to typing, I kind of see myself as a ‘star typer’. What I actually mean is that I write a lot. However, a while ago, I was forced to reflect on the passions that drive me, after I uttered a statement that was more amazing to me than to my hearers, I presume. When the characteristics which you hold on so tightly to are snatched away from you, what would be your reaction? Would you exclaim, “My life is over!”? This post is dedicated to all the people who are compelled by reason of love for their professions/callings to focus on the same. And particularly to certified typers (writers), who cannot but type. Yes, it defines you; but whom do you define? #Musings#

I WRITE TO YOU: LETTER TO MEDICS

1 John 2:13,15 I write to you, fathers, because you have known him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I write to you, dear children, because you have known the Father.   Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him . This letter of encouragement is written after the fashion of John in 1 John 2. It goes thus: I write unto you, medical students; for your sins of commission and omission have been forgiven. Do not be disconcerted… I write unto you, fresh medical school graduates, residents, young doctors and everyone who’s climbing the professional ladder in the medical field. You have the word of medicine abiding in you and consequently, you have aced/ will ace all your qualifying exams! I write unto you, consultants and professors; for you have known, understood and being in this practice long enough. Your experienced hands are skillful, your know

ON GOD’S ATTENTION SPAN

God’s attention span is so excellent that He can give His undivided attention to EVERY human being, as well as other living creature, as much as the non-living things on earth- all at the same time. He formed in us a fraction of his cerebral cortex which is unthinkably minute, and yet, is an explicit representative of his; with its numerous gyri and sulci! In view of this, I’d like to quote a man called Bill Johnson, who said: “You and I are seated in Christ in heavenly places (Eph 2:6). If Jesus is currently seated on the throne of David, then so are we! We have delegated authority to establish His Kingdom wherever the sole of our foot treads. But while God calls us ‘kings’, the degree to which we walk in that position is still a matter of potential. And God is not responsible for making us reach our potential. It requires our participation.” Are you ready to walk as a king? He created you with a format in place (his). You can only fulfill your destiny if you walk according to t

AN ERYTHROCYTE’S SPEECH

My name is erythrocyte N and I’m just a normal red blood cell, undergoing my everyday function of transporting oxygen to tissues. My life span is about 120 days (actually, in the erythrocyte handbook 1day=1year for a man). I’d like to share an interesting series of events in my life with you: Up till about 1 week ago actually, my life span was like 15days. I’d also been having some challenges with oxygen transport and because of this my efficacy had drastically reduced; I must confess. But anytime I fell short, I would humbly go to the spleen where senile me would be destroyed and a new me would be produced from the bone marrow. Pretty cool, right? However, I noticed something. Oxidizing agents kept coming my way, and their major target was my ferrous iron…having figured correctly that when my ferrous iron was converted to a ferric state, I became useless. You see, when my iron is in the ferric state, the hemoglobin in me is converted to methemoglobin. And that’s a pretty sad

BEYOND THE BRAIN: REDUCING THE IRREDUCABLE!

“This factor of reduction in estimation is beyond me.” Is 46:5- “So to whom will you compare me, the Incomparable? Can you picture me without reducing me?” Even in the world of chronic juxtaposition, there’s only so much one can do!  Can we picture God without reducing him? How far is the span of one’s imagination? Even the most intricately organized system of the human body is completely inferior to the weight of his glory…no system captures our God that well. So when I am tempted to ask why I’m doing this, comparing the incomparable; I’m reminded of the fact that he lives in me, and progressively reveals as much of himself that I’m capable of handling to me- as long as I’m willing to accommodate his ultimate peculiarity. Look into the horizon…how far can you see?

DO YOU NEED A CARRIER?

Isa 46:4 : “Even to your old age, I am He, And even to gray hairs I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear; Even I will carry, and will deliver you.” The most efficacious carrier of oxygen in the blood is the protein Haemoglobin. Haemoglobin not only carries oxygen but delivers it to target body tissues. If a simple blood buffer like haemoglobin can faithfully transport oxygen, can my God not do more? He made me, and so, he’d bear me. He’d carry me more efficiently than Haemoglobin could ever carry oxygen, delivering (birthing) me into higher places on a daily basis.  Do you need a carrier? My God’s far more faithful than Haemoglobin…taste and see that he is good!

KNOW YOUR CALLING: BEFORE BECOMING A COMMITTED CELL

“It is better to remain pluripotential than to be selectively differentiated into the wrong cellular lineage.” Jer 1:5- "Before I shaped you in the womb, I knew all about you. Before you saw the light of day, I had holy plans for you: A prophet to the nations — that's what I had in mind for you." Stem cells are usually pluripotential. Blood stem cells have different pathways to which they can become committed, on commitment to that lineage (e.g. myeloid lineage) they can produce only those type of cells. Commitment without a calling ultimately results in frustration. You don’t enter into purpose by good works, you enter by being called- howbeit, you are maintained in your position of calling by your fruitfulness. You were made for a purpose; commit to watchfulness so as to be sensitized to it. I’d rather remain a stem cell than be differentiated into unfruitful works…can you say the same?

SPIRITUAL GROWTH SPURT

Growth spurts occur most visibly in the first year of life and around puberty. Puberty begins earlier than it used to mainly as a result of improved nutrition. A secret for the acceleration of spiritual growth is to have his word abiding in our hearts always. Eating is always a pre-requisite for growth; eating well is always a pre-requisite for a growth spurt. 1 John 2:14b I write to you, young men, because you are strong and vigorous, and the Word of God is [always] abiding in you (in your hearts), and you have been victorious over the wicked one.

NEGATIVE FEEDBACK?

The major feedback control mechanism by which homeostasis is maintained i.e the body maintains its state of equilibrium is by negative feedback. By definition, this is when a change in a variable causes an opposite change in a second variable; thus checking the effects of the second variable. It prevents over-expression. At what point should negative feedback be introduced into the Christian fold? When excessively applied, can it stop the flow instead of checking the excesses? #Musing# Have a lovely week…

FAITH’S PULSE: IS FAITH DEAD?

“If you want to know the pulse rate of faith, check its works!” Separating the heart beat from the pulse rate is as impossible as separating works from faith. For without faith, it is impossible to please God…in the same vein, without works, it is impossible to prove faith! "So also faith, if it doesn’t have works (deeds and actions of obedience to back it up), by itself is destitute of power (inoperative, dead)…For as the human body apart from the spirit is lifeless, so faith apart from (its) works of obedience is also dead". James 2:17, 26 No heart beat, no pulse; no works, no faith!

CIRCULATIONAL SCARCITY

Even blood has to get out of circulation. Venous blood I mean. It is re-oxygenated by the lungs, then re-circulated as arterial blood. Getting out of circulation involves getting solitary with God. Oh…it gives us peace, at the very least, I know that. When we begin to forget how to let go, it’s probably a signal to get to that place of deep connection once again. Stop carrying those burdens…you don’t have to. In fact, you shouldn’t. PEACE.

SYNAPTIC TRANSMISSION: OOPS! IS THERE A WAY?

I’m speaking impulsively…for where there’s an impulse, there’s a synapse It is the will of neurons that the impulses they generate be transmitted. However, transmission of impulses do not occur simply because neurons want/will it to occur. Do you get the point? What’s the practical means for the transmission of said impulses? That’s where a synapse becomes efficacious. And what’s a synapse? It’s simply this structural specialization which serves as a junctional site between excitable tissues (i.e nerve-nerve/ nerve-muscle), through which their impulses can be transmitted. Yes, when God wills something, there’s always a means of accomplishment for that particular purposeful endeavor. Have you found his will? Search for his way too. I say his way because there could as well be other seemingly attractive ways for the accomplishment of the said purpose.
