The
first surgery that was ever performed on the brain was performed by cutting a
portion of the skull. This occurred in the stone age.
In
13th century Europe, barber-surgeons were not uncommon. They cut
hair, pulled teeth and performed simple operations such as amputations and
setting of broken bones. Well, surgery advanced from the pouring of oil and later wine onto wounds in the 16th
century to the invention of tracheotomy and later the usage of anaesthesia in
the 18th and 19th century, surgery reasonably advanced.
Beyond
reminiscence of the procedures of the past, giant strides involving different
procedures, including organ transplants have been made even in the present
century. Therefore, it can be accurately said that the past helped to bring
about the future.
Though
it is relatively good to forget things of the past, sometimes, experiences of
the past can positively shape us and thus, reminiscence can make us stronger!
