John 2:13,15
I
write to you, fathers, because you have known him who is from the beginning. I
write to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I write to
you, dear children, because you have known the Father.
Do
not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the
love of the Father is not in him.
This
letter of encouragement is written after the fashion of John in 1 John 2. It goes
thus:
I
write unto you, medical students; for your sins of commission and omission have
been forgiven. Do not be disconcerted…
I
write unto you, fresh medical school graduates, residents, young doctors and
everyone who’s climbing the professional ladder in the medical field. You have
the word of medicine abiding in you and consequently, you have aced/ will ace
all your qualifying exams!
I
write unto you, consultants and professors; for you have known, understood and being
in this practice long enough. Your experienced hands are skillful, your
knowledge is inestimable and your insight, invaluable…
Do
not be swept off your feet by the alluring features of the profession. Keep your
eyes fixed on truth. Let not knowledge puff you up. Let not your errors
destabilize you. If you love the Father, the profession would lead you towards
him. If not, it might lead you farther from him!
